Protective Style: Inspired by CH/VC

The Inspiration
Our new style was inspired by the beautiful Boo of Chocolate Hair/Vanilla Care. If you've never visited this blog, you are missing out!!

The Style
Anisa's Nubian Princess style used beads and we all know that beads and rubberbands are not good ends. Especially ends that have recently been trimmed.

I removed the beads prior to removing the style in order to give her ends some extra special TLC. Once the style was removed, I washed her hair using our regular routine and I put her hair in large twists for a few days to let her scalp rest. I knew that I wanted our next style to be protective but I wasn't sure about which style to do. I received inspiration from my blogger buddy, Mainly Braids. She recently put her own spin on the same style from Chocolate Hair/Vanilla Care. You can check out her amazing style here

Then and Now: Braids to the Side with a Puff

Day 1
I decided to revisit a style that I did a little over a year ago on Anisa. The Braids to the Side with a Puff style was featured as a guest post on Beads, Braids, and Beyond in August 2010. Looking back, I can see a HUGE difference in the size of her puff!!

I followed the same steps that were discussed in this post. At night, I will moisturize her hair using Bee Mine Deja's Hair Milk and make two-strand twists with each of the three sections that form the big puff. I will use the satin bonnet with the pouch/pocket that I mentioned in this post to protect her hair for bedtime.

Day 2
I removed the twists from the three sections and I loved the results!! While the puff was still very full, the twists gave it a wavy look. I separated the twists, fluffed them a bit, and added one of the flower clips that was highlighted in our Love Culture Flower Clips post.

Love Culture Flower Clips

I found these beautiful flower clips at Love Culture! What makes them even better is the price... They are only $2.90!!!!

The following picture shows a back view of one of the clips.

The pink and yellow flower clips do not have the hair band attached.

The floweres that I found are not available on the website but they have a large selection of hair accessories to choose from. Check out the examples below. Click each picture to be directed to the Love Culture website.
