Protective Style: Intricate Cornrows with Bangs on Natural Hair

Here is a quick update on our most Intricate Cornrows with Bangs on Natural Hair style.

The Original Style

While on our way home the other day, Anisa let out a loud scream while in the back seat. King had a handful of her hair and he was yanking it with all that he had!! Ouch!!! So as a result, I had to make some adjustments to the style.

Without the Hair Pins

To change things up, I removed the beads and created an extra bun in the back. Without the beads and rubberbands that were holding the beads, she now has a protective style!!! Great style + protected ends = WINNING!!!

I think a braid out is on the horizon! Stay tuned!!

Intricate Cornrows with Bangs on Natural Hair + Review

The Style

Check out Anisa's new style! I created this intricate cornrow with bangs style this weekend. I must admit that I did not have this in mind when I started. My original plan was to create an updo but I ended up changing a few things and this was the outcome.

I started on clean, detangled, moisturized hair. I banded her hair in preparation of this style in the following way:

I began braiding the left side first and made my way to the the right side by braiding from the front to the back in each section.

For clarification, let's say that there are three sections. Section 1 was placed into a low bun in the back and secured with hair pins. Section 2 was formed into side swept bangs and secured with hair pins. Finally, Section 3 was left to hang and wooden beads were added for extra flair.

Anisa received so many compliments for this style! Another option is to form another small bun on the right side instead of letting the hair hang.

It's Review Time!!

We recently received this beautiful jewelry set from Zuri Designs by Seleana. Isn't it beautiful?? The Afro Puff Zuri Girl jewelry set includes a necklace and matching bracelet. The Zuri Girl earrings are sold separately. I love the set so much, I ended up purchasing another set for a friend!!

April Hair Carnival: Copycat Style

It's Hair Carnival time!! This time around I was paired with the talented Michelle and Des of Girly and Curly. Here's a little bit about Michelle in case you've never visited her page:

I am a mother of three beautiful multi-racial children. My sons are teenagers well on their way to being grown ups and a Girly daughter who loves every second of being a self proclaimed fashionista. This blog will talk about various products that make our life easier and more enjoyable, girly stuff (of course), beauty products, and last but certainly not least naturally curly hair and the care you put into it.

For this carnival,  I chose to recreate a style that is posted on the Girly and Curly Facebook fan page. Be sure to stop by and "Like" her page and visit her Style Gallery for more amazing styles!!

Here is the original style that Michelle created for Des:

I copied this style as closely as I could, while adding my own special touches.

Products Used for Styling:
Comb for parting
Water bottle

I started with clean, detangled, moisturized and stretched hair. Next, I created four ponytails that were each placed in the center. I then created 3 - 5 two-strand twists for each ponytail and wrapped them around into a bun. The buns were secured with hair pins. For the bangs, I looped the twists around in a clockwise motion and instead of using hair pins, I placed a black ouchless hair band around the top to secure it. The remainder of her hair that was not wrapped was unraveled to make curly bangs. I added a matching flower to complete the look.
