King's Textured Fro

I decided to twist my son's hair with the intention of starting locs. The twists looked great for awhile but unfortunately he has been sick and the twists were neglected. I had no choice but to take them out and maybe one day try again.

In the meantime, I tried a textured Afro method that I've heard a lot about. The process was super easy and it was not time consuming at all!

Products used:
Water bottle
My hand :-)

I sprayed King's hair with warm water from the water bottle. Next, I applied the Shea Moisture Organic Coconut and Hisbiscus Curl and Style Milk to his entire head. I did not saturate his hair with the style milk but it was evenly distributed. Finally, I used my hand to create a textured look. I used the palm of my hand to rub his hair in a clockwise motion all around. The result was a beautifully textured fro for my little King.

Have you tried this method? What were your results? I would love to see pictures!!

  1. i love his fro! i'm contemplating twist for my lil dude too.. we shall see

  2. I have done that method on my younger son but his hair didn't do anything, think his curl pattern is too loose for it to come out like I was expecting. King is handsome as always.

  3. That is cool! P.S. the photography is beautiful! He is super handsome :) How long did it take to remove the locs?

  4. Thanks ladies!

@ Shay - I redid his twists yesterday and I'm already missing his fro! Decisions, decisions.....

@ Michelle - I really do love this look on him.

  5. I love those pictures!! He looks so handsome!!!

  6. Thanks Tav and Charlotte!! @ Tav - it actually didn't take long at all. I can have finish putting them in in about an hour and a half.
@ Charlotte - Thank you! Those are the first "real" pics that I've taken with my camera since I got it.

  7. love both looks! that textured fro is awesome. I love that you post about King to - I'm always looking for inspiration and ideas for my little K too. Hope he's feeling better!!

  8. Thank you Mama M! He really isn't doing any better. He's having breathing/asthma issues so we're just doing what we can while hoping it gets better. They both have the same issues.

  9. OH you know how i am with my fro's i took out tye's mohawk and that's what he rocked for a week.....
